Avaya has released software v5.1.7.0 for the Ethernet Routing Switch 8600/8800. This release has no new features but instead addresses a large number of software bugs. The list is so long that I’m not even going to bother listing them here.
Please refer to the release notes for all the details.
Cheers!
PS: Thanks to @Telair for the heads-up!

Last regular Release in the 5.1.x code stream and no new features. In fact Avaya will end the
deveolpment for the 5.1 code , there will only be bugfixes in the future.
If you want new features Avaya forces you to 7.x code……

That’s very true Dominik!
As for myself I’m really interested in stability right now… still working through some 10GE issues after upgrading to 5.1.5.1 software.
There’s a design limitation that I just only recently learned about. In short you can not have a Layer 2 connection between the switches of a switch cluster other than the IST link. It causes a MAC reflection problem where the switch learns it’s MAC address from multiple sources. I have a 10GE WAN that traverses both ERS 8600 switches so that’s why I was having issues after upgrading to 5.1.5.1 software.
Cheers!

Mike,
Do you have a reference to this bug? We are having the same issue.
Michael McNamara says
Hi Jon,
It’s not so much a bug as a known design limitation. You can’t have a Layer 2 connection between a pair of ERS 8600s outside of the IST link. You’ll need up driving the CPU utilization to 100% as the CPU will continually try and learn the switch MAC address across each Layer 2 connection.
Sorry for the late reply… super busy these past few weeks!
Cheers!
