There was a recent hardware change to the Motorola AP5131 and AP300 which requires a specific version of software to operate properly. In the little information I’ve been able to dig up Motorola makes reference to a “Isotope HW” change. Anyone know what the that is?
In any event if you are ordering/deploying any new AP5131 or AP300s you’ll need to be mindful of this change and ensure that you are running the appropriate software releases and/or you have applied the specific patches.
You can find the release notes concerning the AP5131 right here.
You can find the release notes concerning the AP300 right here.

This just bit us as we ordered some AP-300’s to use as replacements for failed units and the controllers would not accept them. The controller would see the AP but it would never associate. We are using WS5000 and WS5100. We would have to do both code updates and patches on our controllers…but we are in the process or replacing the equipment with Trapeze so I think we will try to limp long by taking AP’s from areas that do not need coverage.

Hi Ray,
The installation of the patch isn’t too difficult at all. It should take just a few minutes, however, it does require a reboot of the Wireless LAN Switch.
Thanks for the comment and good luck with your Trapeze deployment!

i couldnt get what you are saying. what installation did we need. please tell me the software.
there is no switch for my device AP300
Michael McNamara says
Hi Santhosh,
The AP300 is a dependent Access Port that requires a Motorola Wireless LAN Switch to operate. If you are running an older version of software on the Wireless LAN Switch you need to install a patch (refer to the post above) in order to support a new hardware release of the AP300.
Cheers!

Hello!
My “Ap 5131 dual radio dependent” requires firmware version no higher than 3.4.0
The one that we have, apparently was installed by mistake and works incorrectly. (6.3.0)
Can you help me?!
I will be very grateful for any version, even very old, you can send here: bornzoo@mail.ru

Hi Alexey,
Sorry I don’t have any software for the 5131 hanging around. You might have luck seeking out a Symbol/Motorola/Zebra/Extreme sales engineer and see if they’ll help you out.
Good Luck!
