The family and myself spent a few hours today putting up the outdoor lights for the Christmas holiday. It was a mild day here in the Philadelphia suburbs so I thought we’d better get to it before old man winter returns. While I only had a few hours before I had to turn my attention back to the biggest E-Commerce shopping day of the year, Cyber Monday, I did have the opportunity to record two of my daughters, Jessica and Jillian, playing the Oboe and  Double Bass respectively.

All three of my daughters take individual lessons and have been getting better and better over the weeks, months and years. Over the summer the twins started lessons with a new music teacher at the local music store. I can still remember my first conversation with her, “Hi Dad” she said. “Hello” I replied. “Any musical talent in the family” she inquired, “not with me” I replied. “Oh well, what a pitty” she responded to which I quipped “but I’ve got the check book” to which she responded “oh great!”.

I dug out the Blue Yeti and fired up Audacity and in the short span of 15-20 minutes we had recorded a few decent tracks along with a plethora of bloopers. The girls are playing in the Silver Strings Orchestra which goes around Chester County playing songs for the holidays in a number of retirement communities and assisted living residences.
