Thanks for the comment Telair… I know a few home users who accidentally upgraded when they clicked the X button on the upgrade dialog box. Seems that Microsoft has since backed off that approach.

So we are quickly on the countdown to the end of Windows 7 support in just a few more years. If you want support going forward, your choice is Windows 10 now. Since we are a month away from the end of the free Windows 7/8 upgrade to 10 program you really need to bite the bullet quickly even if you don’t like Windows 10 for some reason.

I pushed my friends to all go Win 10 in the last few months and have completed my own upgrades. But my office still laments leaving Windows XP and had to be dragged to Windows 7 only two years ago.

I ran Windows 8.1 on my Lenovo T430 for about 18 months without any big headaches. I will say that Windows 8.1 teaches you to learn numerous keyboard shortcuts – which has made me more efficient user.
