Hi Spike,

You can find the settings you need to use over on the discussion forums at this URL; http://forums.networkinfrastructure.info/nortel-ip-telephony/disabling-features-from-extended-feature-set-on-ip-deskphone/

Good Luck!

I thought i had all the enhanced features disabled, but “Authentication Security” is checked under the Licensing -> Features menu.

Any way to disable this? And will it happen to the rest of my phones as well?

Happy New Year Joe!

You’d probably need to take your issues directly to Avaya and see what feedback they might provide.

Cheers!

Happy New Year!

Any word if the 1140/1120 SIP sets will provide distinctive ringing between external and internal calls? That is 1 ring for internal, 2 rings for External.

Right now at Purdue on their CS2100, all calls, both on campus and off campus ring with 1 ring.

http://www.michaelfmcnamara.com/files/NN43113-300_03.09_SIP_FW_1140E_AG.pdf

based on this post above and page 127 of the PDF file, distinctive ringing is not available on Nortel/Avaya SIP phones, even if the call server provides 1 ring for internal and 2 rings for external or 3 rings for Camp On, etc.

Why?

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Michael,

Happy Holidays to you as well!

I brought the Local Dial Pad tone concept for the SIP phones up to Jon Alperin one of the heads of DecConnect at Avaya….I am confident he will get it to the right R&D team….the question is, will they find this important? I certainly think it is….for safety and security and its also a nice change compared to standard DTMF tones that are on every common phone.

Any thought?

Joe

Hi Joe,

It’s probably worthy of the wishlist but I know that Avaya are really focused on trying to bring the IP Office compatibility and functionality to the legacy Nortel products right now.

Cheers!

Thank you for announcing this. I uploaded them to my existing version 4.13 1140E and 1120E SIP phones and they upgraded perfectly with the no token request on a 3rd party SIP trunk platform from VOIP.MS.

I wish they would implement the Nortel/Avaya style CS1000/BCM Key tones, called Key Clicks on these phones. On CS1000 the Nortel phones let you Choose 3 options: Local Dialpad Tone: 1-Silent, 2-Short Clicks, 3-DTMF tones…..

In large open areas where passwords need to be secure, and people use Handsfree, the DTMF tones can clearly be heard over a large area. Say if your password is not smart and you dial 2222 or 0000, someone could clearly hear the key tones and hack back into your voice mail. The keyclicks would prevent this.

Let me know what you think.

Joe
