This is true… but you get what you pay for and Opengear works well in my opinion and is worth the cost.

It’s a terminal server so it will support any serial connectivity, you may need a rollover cable depending on the actual equipment.

Cheers!

Will Lantronix support/work Cisco, Avaya, Nortel Networks, Extreme and Brocade switches as a one box/device?
Please let me know your view.

Planning to procure something good which support all the above OEM/Makers.

Thanks,
Rajesh

Would recommend Opengear at this point… most of the equipment today is now matching the Cisco standard RJ-45 console port so you don’t need to mess with adapters too much these days.

Cheers!

Can you please suggest us the better console server for Cisco, Avaya, Nortel Networks, Extreme and Brocade switches as a one box/device?

Planning to procure something good which support all the above OEM/Makers.

Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately I don’t use MRV anymore, switched to Opengear years ago now.

Cheers!

Cheers,

Sorry, nope…

And I know in later software releases the folks and MRV removed the ability to copy/extract the system boot files to an external TFTP server.

Cheers!

You don’t happen to have a copy of the 2 files, ppciboot.img and linuxito.img, still? Mine have corrupted during a power problem and now the MRV will not boot.

Thanks

Pete

Hi Jesse,

I went looking for about 30 minutes and couldn’t figure it out. I’m wondering if the software no longer offers that feature. I searched in the CLI and in GUI and couldn’t find it on a number of MRVs all of which were running 5.3.x software.

I do recall performing the upgrade… not entirely sure how I pulled it off now.

Sorry.
