I wouldn’t bother updating a BES 1020, just be happy it boots and works.

Cheers!

You can register for the site, but you don’t get access to downloads unless you provide a “Sold To” number. With the BES 1020 being 10 years old, I would suspect most organizations do not have this information and will be prevented from downloading firmware/software updates.

At this point, I would be happy just to know what the current firmware and software revisions are for the BES1020-48T-PWR!

Hi Matthew,

Did you login to the Avaya support website? Have you registered for an account on Avaya’s website?

Good Luck!

However, I’m a network admin end user. Looks like they don’t want me to have access to that. :(

Hi Matthew,

Are you speaking of the BES (Business Ethernet Switch)?

I have a 1020-48T that needs a firmware upgrade and I can’t find any mention of it on Avaya’s site, and it has been removed from Nortel’s site.

Any idea where I can get BCM and Switch patches from now?

Even a search for IST or SMLT is unsuccessfull. Parts of the Avaya Website is not displayed correctly with Chrome or FF! Avaya learning is even not usable with Chrome/FF….

That’s kind of poor….

Definately Not Ready for Prime Time!

took them 2 weeks to link extra sold to number to my account
took them 2 days to start looking at my ticket while i logged another case in nortel support it happened within a day
the Avaya e-notification is messy and i have to tick document, software update, and other relative information on EACH product one by one, in Nortel i just need to tick the product.

I will try this next week when I am back in the office.

Thanks for the heads up!

I would tend to agree with you regarding people being more comfortable with what’s familiar and not new and unknown.

It’s my understanding that JDM is dead… Enterprise Device Manager (EDM) and Configuration and Orchestration Manager (COM) is the future.

I’ve corresponded with Brett quite a few times, he’s the author of CLImanager. Brett had been coding CLImanager well before the Nortel marketing folks got wind of it. I would probably believe it will live on in someway. Perhaps Avaya will release the code into the open source community. There are quite a few other neat tools that they have which I’m guessing they won’t just throw away.

Cheers!

I am sure after I use it for a month or two we will grow to like it.

with that said I would like to know what is going to happen to CLImanager and JDM. I am getting mixed stories from everyone.

…. on the new Avaya Page it will take some time to feel as comfortable as it was on the old Nortel page.

2 points that bother me:

1: I have to saerch every Software release for a document, a view all button would be very nice.

2: no connection from avaya.com to support.avaya.com or the connection is so well hidden that I couldnĀ“t find it.
