Avaya has release an updated technical configuration guide geared towards the interoperability between Cisco and Avaya equipment. The document covers a lot of information including EtherChannel to MLT interoperability, Spanning Tree interoperability, Nortel IP phones connecting to Cisco switches and Cisco IP phones connecting to Nortel switches.
It’s definitely well worth the time to review.
Cheers!

No problem at all Adam… I’ve been comending Avaya/Nortel for quite sometime now on all their technical configuration guides. These documents help to empower the user so they clearly understand how to utilize the equipment and take advantage of all the feature sets.
I’m just trying to help publicize the information.
Cheers!

Michael, I must admit that Avaya has significantly increased their investment into their technical documentation, something that Nortel was not to proficient on. Out engineers are thoroughly impressed as well!
Have you received Avaya’s latest data portfolio overview and Plan of Intention?
Michael McNamara says
I hope to meet with Avaya over the next few weeks to review the entire data/voice portfolio. I’ll be especially interested in hearing about the VSP9000 and their Next Gen voice mail platform.
Cheers!

Mike, just a quick note on your last comment. Let me know if you are interested and I can arrange a meeting with Avaya’s Global Data Manager. The guy is great and will provide someone like you great insight into Avaya now and what they are investing into.
Just a thought, and happy to help.

Thanks for the offer Adam.
The local Avaya/Nortel sales team has been very responsive to us so I have no worries there.

please advice what typologies i should configured in both switches (avaya and cisco) .
Michael McNamara says
You’ll need to determine if you want to route or switch between your existing network and the new building.
Good Luck!
