I had the same problems Tom. I was unable to connect to the provider, on24.com, and only succeeded around 1:45PM - probably after many folks started disconnecting. The little big that I did see seemed to focus around marketing... I'm hopefully that I'll be able to analyze the material and give everyone hear my breakdown of the news.

I would agree with you Tom concerning existing Nortel/Avaya equipment. However, we also have a lot of large projects and initiatives which need to move forward. If Nortel/Avaya can't provide us a clear roadmap, then I need to evaluate alternatives and engineer interoperability between existing Nortel/Avaya solutions and whatever equipment we may procure in the future.

I'm trying to download the video presentation and will post it here for those folks that follow this blog. I also believe there will be a re-broadcast on Thursday January 21st at 9:00AM, more information to follow.

Sigh... Accessing the web-site times out - the browser says the server is taking too long to respond. Have been trying since around 12:50 Pm. On to other things...

As noted previously, we are committed to the Nortel hardware/software solution set. Even if products are EOL'd, it won't make a whole lot of difference to us, as there is ample used hardware available in the marketplace.

No earth shattering news given during the call. It really seemed to be a reassurance session for existing members of the many user associations. The only pertinent point I thought that was worth mentioning was that they said the Microsoft / Nortel partnership had run it's course. They also said that they do not agree with Microsoft's view of replacing the PBX when it comes to MS pushing OCS (which is an awesome product BTW)

What people wanted was a heads up on the road-map and we were all told to wait until the 19th!

I am sure we are all waiting with bated breath to see what happens to our investments!

There are folks in my organization that are members of INNUA and attend the meetings. I'm not personally a member myself. I believe the last INNUA meet in the Pennsylvania area was in Pittsburg, PA back in the first half of 2009.

I've heard the roadmap is complete and has been shared with the internal (Nortel/Avaya) sales team so perhaps Avaya plans to release the roadmap early to INNUA members.

Very interesting... thanks for the heads-up Dave!

I registered as well... I thought it was neat how they provided a link (.vcs file) so you could update your Outlook calendar with the scheduled event.

In total I would guess that we have around 30,000+ Ethernet ports and 20,000+ phones across our Nortel equipment.

I did hear today from a few sources that Nortel customers should "be pleasantly surprised". I'm not sure exactly how to interpret that but we'll find out more on January 19, 2010.

Cheers!

Yep - am registered and will see what they have to say. I don't see it changing our commitment to Nortel products in the near to mid-term (e.g. we are committed to the SRG solution for our remote location).
